GOST R Conformity Certificate

GOST R Certificate is a document validating conformity of products to safety requirements set forth in national state standards. The certificate is required to permit the turnover of goods within the Russian Federation.

Currently, most product groups are regulated by national technical regulations and the Customs Union technical regulations but some product types still require drafting GOST R conformity certificates.

The list of such products is provided in Regulation of the Government of the Russian Federation No. 982 «On Approval of the Unified List of Products Subject to Mandatory Certification and the Unified List of Products for which the Confirmation of Conformity is Made in the Form of a Declaration of Conformity».

The list is regularly updated and its updated version is available at Rosstandard site (Federal Technical Regulation and Metrology Agency).

One should also note that GOST R certification system required drafting GOST R conformity declarations instead of conformity certificates.

Important Features of GOST R Product Certification:

• GOST R conformity certificates are valid within the Russian Federation.
• Only an authorized certified authority may perform the certification procedure and issue the certificate form.
• Certificated are issued in the approved form on special templates (see sample GOST R certificate).
• Depending on the certification scheme, the GOST R certificate may be drafted either for a batch of products or for commercial production thereof.
• The certificate may be drafted for up to 5 years.
• The certificate may list a manufacturer, seller of foreign manufacturer representative as the Applicant.
• GOST R system allows voluntary certification.
